# Simulate a purchase

> Test spending controls without moving real money.

Connect your agent, then ask your MCP client to check its budget and simulate a purchase. The REST API does not expose a purchase endpoint.

## Example tool arguments

```json theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"vesper"}}
{
  "merchant": "Example Store",
  "amount_cents": 500,
  "request_id": "49c8df37-7304-4ff7-b302-b3fc17f5bcd4"
}
```

This requests a €5 simulation. Generate your own UUID for each intended purchase; the example UUID is illustrative.

## Retry safely

Reuse the same `request_id` and arguments when retrying the same purchase. Transfer returns the original transaction rather than debiting twice. Reusing the ID with changed arguments fails. Use a new UUID for a new purchase.

## Check the result

Read the tool result and call `list_agent_transactions` to inspect recent purchases. A declined purchase leaves the balance unchanged. Check card status, both spending limits, and wallet funds before trying a new purchase.

<Note>This tool does not order goods, pay a merchant, or return real card details.</Note>
