# Connect your agent

> Give an MCP client access to one Transfer agent.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate a connection">
    Sign in to your dashboard, select your agent, and choose **Connect to Codex → Generate connection code**. The demo cannot issue working keys.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure your MCP client">
    Use the complete configuration shown in the dashboard. It includes your deployment's `/api/mcp` URL and a bearer key. Transfer uses Streamable HTTP with authenticated POST requests.

    Keep the configuration in your client's private user settings. Never commit it to a project or paste it into a shared chat.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify access">
    Reload your client's MCP connection and ask it to run `get_agent_wallet`. Check that the agent name and wallet match the dashboard.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The server exposes three tools: `get_agent_wallet`, `list_agent_transactions`, and `simulate_purchase`. Your client's tool approval policy still applies.

<Warning>Generating a replacement key immediately invalidates the previous connection. Keys expire after 90 days.</Warning>

See [MCP tools](/mcp/overview) for the tool contract and [troubleshooting](/guides/troubleshooting) if your connection fails.
